Thanksgiving
On Thursday, November
28, the United States celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
Do you live in America and have a
special, sad, funny, or contemplative Thanksgiving story to tell? Are you a
non-American having experienced a memorable all-American Thanksgiving?
Have you ever celebrated Thanksgiving in a foreign country? Is there
anything you have always wanted to say about Thanksgiving? Do you like the holiday--or
do you hate it?
Seven Seas
invites you to write a personal essay on "all things Thanksgiving" and
submit it to the very first Seven Seas Personal Essay Contest!
Please
remember: I am looking for true stories, not a
list of things saying why and for what you are thankful (even though this
can certainly be included in your essay!)
Deadline: November
11, 2002.
The winning
essay will be published in the November 15th issue of Seven Seas Magazine.
Good submissions will find their way into one of the next regular issues.
Prize (Yes, there is one!):
Aside from getting his or her own little nook for the winning essay in the
November 15th issue, the winner receives $ 30.00 - paid via PayPal. If you
do not have a PayPal account (or do not want to get one), I am afraid you
won't be able to participate. But--signing up with PayPal is free and easy
at http://www.paypal.com
Entry fee: $
4.00 per entry
This entry fee
only applies to contest submissions! If you submit your essay to
be included in a regular issue without wanting to participate in the
contest, submitting is, of course (and as always!), free of charge. If
you, however, submit a Thanksgiving essay without an entry fee, it cannot
be considered as a contest entry.
