A White African - by Jane Paterson
Issue:  May 2002

Review written by Paul Fleischack

This essay really stirred me. The thought of bringing up children of a different culture must be very difficult to handle. I loved the style and easy flow. Would love to read more from this author.

Final Words - by Wayne Scheer
Issue:  May 2002

Review written by Gabriel Constans

How true!  How true!  More insightful words have not been written.  We live like we die.  It isn't (usually) like in the movies, with grace, love and peace flowing like a river, it is most often messy, mundane, simple and difficult.  Having worked with hospice for twenty-five years, it was refreshing to hear a bit of reality on the subject.  Life, here and now, is indeed the answer and the question, not death and what comes after.

Review written by Madlyn Creekmore

A profound, short statement about our lives on earth.  It goes with my way of thinking.

Nun Too Soon - by Linda Jasmine
Issue: May 2002

Review written by Ray Hall

This is an interesting, well writen story about a "grabber" subject. Linda was able to capture the voice of the frightened young girl/stoic older sister in a very real way. And I loved the "red hair" finish.

Linda is an entertaining writer and I'm going to look for her books!  My Father was in an orphanage, and I could understand more of what he went through by reading Linda's essay.

Nun Too Soon - by Linda Jasmine
Issue:  May 2002

Review written by Nancy Kane

Excellent!  I really enjoyed reading this essay.  Ms. Jasmine perfectly conveyed the feelings of a big sister and her brother in an awful situation.  The ending was just right!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Linda's story!  I felt like I was right there in the orphanage with the kids.  I really liked Linda's writing style.  It made for some nice, easy reading.
