Marcus
and Susan - Cheryl Montelle
Issue: September 2002 Review
written by Gina Paz
Dear
Cheryl, My heart goes out to you my dear friend. You have expressed your
feelings as clear as ever. I am glad to see you are putting your inside
talents to such grand use. You inspire me, yet I am now a small town
girl with not much of an audience to share my words with. I wish more
people could have been so fortunate to find their friends safe and well.

Being An Imaginary Jew - by Joy Greenberg
Issue: December 2002 Review
written by Cherise Wyneken
I am not Jewish, but I like your cogent defense of them.
We need more people your courage to say what they believe. A good
description of how you got to where you are.

Wayne
said more in his brief essay than many have said in a book. Wonderful
insight shared.

Fried Hair - by Tessa Dratt
Issue: December 2002
Review
written by Wendy Lane
This
essay was written with an easy flowing pen, which although told of a
none to pleasant experience, left me with a lovely smiley feeling inside
(If you know what I mean!). It reminded me of home perms and bad hair
cuts that have occurred in my household, some of which, I am ashamed to
say, I was responsible for.

Second
Hand Love - by Kathleen Stowe
Issue: December 2002
Review
written by Carly
This is my first visit to Seven Seas. Kathleen's was the first essay I
read. I thought her story flowed well and didn't have a lot of
unnecessary buzz phrases to get by. I like that in a story.
I
have to admit this, though: It was close to my heart. It reminded me so
much of when we lost our cat a year and a half ago.

A
Blanket Case - by N.J. Nicot
Issue: December 2002
Review
written by Monica Rogich
I
think that N.J. did a great job of expressing every mother's battle with
the mixed emotions and responsibilities that come with parenting. I
myself have four children and was reminded of how seemingly overwhelming
it is to take care of our greatest treasures (our children), while also
taking care of theirs. With every picture and craft that comes home from
school, we have to decide just how long to display it and if it is the
one that we will hold on to, and surprise our children with when they
are adults. I have a feeling that Jordan's blanket will one day bring
back warm, and comforting memories that he may want to pass on to his
children.
Thank you
N.J.
for showing me that our children aren't the only ones who are building
memories that will forever be cherished.

On
the Road to Milford - by Anna Meade
Issue: December 2002 Review
written by Kurt Hohmann
There is an attraction within some of us, the lure of visiting
those places deemed too "desolate" by the likes of travel
guides and booking agents. It
appears that Ms. Meade has found such a place on her trip through the
back roads of NZ. Long
drives with nothing to watch out for but the scenery, warm pubs and cold
drinks with friends new and old, a chance to truly live the cliche of
"getting away from it all": all of these elements have been
captured in her essay. I
find myself envious.

New
York Was Bold - by Annika Neudecker
Issue: December 2002
Review
written by Sarah Blair I
really enjoyed reading your essay about New York at Christmas time. I
moved to New York City in January of 2001 to go to school at Pace
University. I really identified with your essay because I am a college
student and was 19 years old when the WTC was destroyed. Like you, I
also love the Christmas spirit in the air of New York.
